About the game

About EuroMillions 5/50

EuroMillions is played in nine European countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Its first draw took place on 13 February 2004 in Paris, with just three countries: the UK, France and Spain. The other six joined in October 2004. Since 10 May 2011 there are two draws a week, on Tuesday and Friday evenings. They are held in France, at FDJ's premises, with physical balls and machines and in the presence of a bailiff.

Players pick 5 numbers from 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 12. The jackpot needs all five numbers and both stars. It starts at €17 million and is shared by all countries: when there is more than one winner, they split it wherever they played. The cap is €250 million. Once it is reached, the jackpot can roll at that amount at most four more times. If there is still no winner at the fifth draw, it goes to the next tier that has winners. Some countries add games of their own, such as My Million in France or UK Millionaire Maker in the United Kingdom.

The €250 million cap has been won three times, each time by a single ticket: in Austria on 28 March 2025, in Ireland on 17 June 2025 and in France on 19 August 2025.

The Lottevo archive holds 1,994 EuroMillions 5/50 draws, from 13 February 2004 to 30 October 2026.

Over the whole archive, the most frequently drawn number is 44 (229 times), and the least frequent is 22 (158 times). Each draw is independent: past frequencies do not change the odds of the next one.
